Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for performance evaluation, assessment & accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, the NAAC proposed that every accredited institution should establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women is the central system that promotes ‘quality culture’ within the institution by developing mechanisms and procedures to help the institution to grow exponentially. Formed in accordance with the guidelines and norms set by NAAC, it tries to ensure that quality is strictly maintained, sustained and augmented by taking the needs of all the stakeholders into consideration. The college envisions a holistic development of the students so that they become empowered citizens and contribute to the development of the nation. IQAC plays the key role in designing and operationalizing all such endeavours that cater to the progress of the institution, upgradation in the knowledge base and skills of the members of teaching faculty and non-teaching   staff and wholesome development of the students. The Cell aims to develop higher and higher quality benchmarks by stating the parameters that govern and ascertain the actualization of the established goals and objectives of the institution in the direction of the realization of its mission.

Main Functions

  • Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for the various academic and administrative activities of the institution
  • Documentation of various programs/activities leading to quality improvement
  • Holds timely meetings to evaluate the functioning of academic and administrative activities.
  • Analyses the feedback from various stakeholders, draws inferences and offers suggestions for sustenance of quality in the institution.
  • Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) to be submitted to NAAC based on the quality parameters.
  • Initiates and promotes quality pedagogy for the benefit of students, institution-industry collaboration, faculty development and re-charge programmes.
  • Planning the upgradation and maintenance of infrastructural facilities in sync with the emerging needs.
  • Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and It encourages teachers to switch-over to an environment of ICT based Teaching-Learning Process
  • To integrate quality based culture into the institutional policies and functioning.
  • Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
  • Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices
  • Periodical conduct of Academic and Administrative Audit and its follow-up
