Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, welcomed its first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students with a vibrant freshers' party. The event was a celebration of music, dance, and talent, showcasing the college's spirit and enthusiasm.

The event featured captivating performances by senior students, including a variety of dance performances that mesmerized the freshers. The ramp walk was a major highlight, where participants showcased their confidence and stage presence. Ms. Ruchika Verma was crowned Miss Fresher with Prerna and Ruchika Nameirakpam (B.A.) securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Other titles awarded included Miss Charming Meharpreet Kaur and Miss Elegant

The celebration continued with a DJ session, a themed photo booth, and a food stall organized by the Saksham Self-Help Group. Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur addressed the gathering, encouraging students to seize every opportunity for growth and participate actively in extracurricular activities. She congratulated the winners and welcomed the freshers to the college community.

Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26, Chandigarh, celebrated National Sports Day with immense enthusiasm on August 29, 2025. The Department of Physical Education and VADA Club organized the event to honor the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.

The celebration commenced with Dr. Aman Thour, Head of the Department of Physical Education & Sports, highlighting the significance of sports in daily life. A high-energy aerobics session followed, where approximately 150 students participated, showcasing their passion for fitness.

The event concluded with Dr. Lucky Malhotra, Coordinator of VADA Club, delivering an inspiring talk on the importance of regular physical activity and a drug-free lifestyle.

Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur commended the Department of Physical Education & Sports and VADA Club for their efforts in promoting sports, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle among students.

This event effectively promoted the values of fitness, sportsmanship, and well-being, aligning with the college's commitment to student development.
 

 

The NCC Army Wing at Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, sector -26, Chandigarh conducted an enrollment drive wherein around 50 interested cadets participated . The selection procedure included physical fitness test , medical test and an interview conducted by ANO Lt Dr Ritu Dhanoa and instructors from NCC unit .

As part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the VADA Club organized a Tree Plantation Drive, promoting a dual mission: creating a drug-free society and conserving the environment. The initiative brought together students, faculty members, and the Principal, who collectively planted saplings within the campus.

This symbolic act represented growth, positivity, and a commitment to a healthier future. The event highlighted the interconnectedness of nurturing nature and nurturing minds, emphasizing the importance of both in building a progressive nation.

By combining environmental conservation with social responsibility, the VADA Club reinforced its dedication to fostering a holistic approach to development.

 VADA Club of Guru Gobind Singh College for women, in collaboration with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, successfully organized a mass pledge against drug abuse. Approximately 500 students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff participated in this initiative.

The event aimed to raise awareness among newly admitted students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of staying away from it. The VADA Club's mandate was highlighted, and participants were encouraged to spread the message in their communities.

This collective effort underscores the institution's commitment to promoting a healthy and drug-free environment, empowering individuals to make informed choices and contribute to a larger social caused.
 

The Transgender Cell of the College, in collaboration with the Transgender Cell and in association with the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, organized an awareness lecture titled “Transgender are Not Different”.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Amit, Counsellor, Transgender Protection Cell, Chandigarh, who sensitized the audience on the challenges faced by transgender individuals in society. He emphasized the importance of empathy, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender identity.

The event witnessed active participation from students, teaching and the non-teaching staff, of the college.

Principal Dr. Jatinder Kaur commended the initiative and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Anju Bala and Mr. Harman Singh Sian, Coordinators, and Dr. Savneet, Counsellor Transgender Cell of the college for their dedicated work in promoting social awareness and inclusivity.
